Kuching, capital of the Malaysian state of Sarawak on the island of Borneo, is a bustling, diverse city of old colonial buildings and modern towers. Along its Sarawak River waterfront are food vendors, shophouses selling handicrafts and an esplanade with views of 19th-century landmarks: The Astana, former palace of the White Rajahs, and Fort Margherita, built to thwart pirates.

The aims & objectives is to help the kids grow in their confidence and learn better English which will help them in many ways in the future.

Program Description

The children are from the villages surrounded Kuching City, the school setup is very basic. The kids and parents will love to meet people from overseas and the exposure to the different cultures. Teachers, with or without experience, can make very significant and worthwhile contributions to the kids. You must love children and understand their behavior, as you will be surrounded with loads of them every day and their friendliness can sometimes become over exuberant. 

Typical Day

Monday - Friday 

Your typical day starts from 8:30 am and finish at 1:00 pm. You will be teaching at the basic school for 3 - 4 hours, breaks in between and lunch hour in the early afternoon. You will leave the school each day at around 1:05 -1:15 in the afternoon.
***Please take note of the school holidays as well as public holidays. During such times, with the option to join special classes and English camps that are regularly requested by the local community***Spend the day cooking authentic East Malaysian Food.

Malaysia consists of two parts which could hardly be any more different and are separated from each other by the South China Sea. While the mainland is a multicultural place that has been moderately developed Borneo will make you feel like you are in the middle of the wilderness. Nonetheless its jungles are stunning and will most likely excite you if you are at all interested in becoming a wildlife conservation volunteer in Malaysia. From highly developed Kuala Lumpur which is home to one of the tallest building in the world to the countryside there is a great amount of travel or volunteer opportunities in Malaysia which are waiting for you.
